AUR, Inc. has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) award from the Air Force. P.I., Dr. Todd Lowe, is examining the feasibility of developing a miniature, in-model fiber optic LDV probe to be deployed in the Air Force's transonic wind tunnel facilities at AEDC. If successful in Phase I, AUR will continue this development to deliver a probe capable of three-velocity component measurements to velocity magnitudes greater than 1500 ft/s (457 m/s) with a form-factor that will fit into standard models. The Air Force and other organizations will use this device to obtain detailed information around 'trouble spots' where flow anomalies are known to occur and flow simulations results are inadequate for prediction.
