Example applications and probes

AUR has particular expertise in the design and deployment of miniaturized fiber optic LDV probes for measurements in tight facilities. Perhaps the biggest advantage is gained in mounting the probes within test models. Fiber optics may be routed through support stings and into wind tunnel models so that the bulky hardware needed for the laser, light detection and electronics may be housed outside of the test section. Very near wall measurements are possible and give information where all other techniques fail. This information is rich in its detail and may be used for initial conditions for CFD simulations, validation of simulations or understanding of problem phenomena such as weak separation. These probes may operate in a huge range of flows from low speed to Mach numbers of 2 or greater.

Custom Sub-miniature LDV for 3-D velocity measurements.

LDV can be used for multipoint measurements by synchronizing two or more systems. Multipoint measurements with LDV non-intrusively gauges flow length scales and turbulent structural correlations. These measurements are usually performed with hot-wire anemometry, but probe interference effects and acceptance angles are avoided using the LDV. AUR has developed the software necessary to correlate these unevenly sampled data and offer them to you!
